My Wrapping

I bet a lot of you are wondering. Why does she wrap her candles instead of having lids? The reason is, remember in the days of old when people would wrap their preserve jars with cloth or brown paper and pieces of twine to hold everything in place, well that was a wonderful thought for my candles, it gives them the olden days feel, but I prefer clear wrap so you can see your products, also the ice candles are for decoration only so you don't have to unwrap them if you don't want to and they still look good wherever you put them. I think it really means Homestead Candles, a good feeling of the days of old.

Aroma Therapy

If you are like me the reason you like candles is for the decorative looks and the scent. When I'm making candles that is all I can think of, how it looks in a room or on a table and the scent filling the house. For my bathroom I made 3 different looks and scents, I also keep them in baskets so I can move them around mostly by the bath tub so as I relax in the tub the scent will fill my senses and I feel a relaxation that I have never felt. Lavender is a natural relaxant for calming your nerves, ease you onto a sound sleep and ease period pains. Rose is for feeling calm and a sense of well-being, happiness and with a uplifting effect. Jasmine is more of a sensual scent to help ease depression and stress. I have also made the same 3 scents for the bedroom, I made those in medium mason jars.

    Ice Candles

When I got my candle making kit I was going to keep me in candles for life, but when I kept experimenting I found myself making some very nice candles good enough to start selling. My first candles were Ice Candles, you cant burn them but they look great as center pieces or just decorating a dull area of the house. I found out they were somewhat easy to make and the end results are beautiful plus no 2 candles are alike.

    The Story Of Homestead Candles

Someone asked me why do I want to sell candles and I told them its a passion of mine, I have always loved good smelling candles and candles in general.  When I moved here and saw how my husband's ancestors lived on this land and lived off it for almost 200yrs I was inspired. Haskew Ball, my husband's great great grandfather, made furniture out of wood and sold all kinds. I felt so proud to be a part of his family's heritage I wanted to do something good here too, so I found a lot of old mason jars, some unique, and I decided to make candles out of them and some newer containers I ordered and there I was making candles for me. They were so nice I decided to sell them using the family homestead as my logo and drawing inspiration from family history.
