Why Make And Sell Candles
Coming from a big city like Columbus, jobs are pretty easy to find. The way I was raised is if you like something stick with it. I chose to make candles because living here in the mountains we can lose electricity a lot, so I decided to start making them for emergencies. Little did I know I would be good at making them in all kinds of containers and molds. I love to decorate with them, and I love the aroma of candles. Not being able to find a job because we live so far in the mountains and most jobs can be at a distance that our 25 year old car can't keep up, I decided to sell them so we can take care of the land and house. The house in some parts is over 150 years old, other parts are less but because grandma had no help with the upkeep of he land and house before she passed away everything is falling apart, needs paint, needs repairs or torn down. Plain and simple this place needs a lot of work and restoration, so it can be a place of relaxation and family. My plans are to someday start having family reunions that can last for a weekend. That's what this place means to me " FAMILY " and it has been for 200 years. My goal is to make money for the house and the land. That's why I decided to make and sell candles.

My Wrapping
I bet a lot of you are wondering. Why does she wrap her candles instead of having lids? The reason is, remember in the days of old when people would wrap their preserve jars with cloth or brown paper and pieces of twine to hold everything in place, well that was a wonderful thought for my candles, it gives them the olden days feel, but I prefer clear wrap so you can see your products, also the ice candles are for decoration only so you don't have to unwrap them if you don't want to and they still look good wherever you put them. I think it really means Homestead Candles, a good feeling of the days of old.
